1. Who we are

DripCheck is an iOS app that scores your outfits and gives you style feedback from your photos. It is published by Julien Zanet, an individual developer based in France ("we", "us", "our"). Julien Zanet is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

This policy explains what data the DripCheck app collects, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. Section 13 covers this website.

Account data

When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account with a random identifier, so you can try the free baseline scan. You then create your account with Sign in with Apple. Apple gives us:

We also create a second identifier (the "external ID") that we use with RevenueCat and Mixpanel instead of your account identifier. An email sign-in exists only for the account that Apple's App Review team uses. You cannot create an account with an email address.

Profile and onboarding answers

During onboarding and in your profile, you can give us: your name, your age, your sex or how you dress, your height, your build, the style problem you struggle with most, how often you feel unsure about an outfit, how you rate your own style, your style tags and your goals. We also store your app settings, such as the tone you want for feedback.

Photos

We do not use your photos for face recognition or to identify you.

Scan results and closet

Your scores and written feedback, the description of each outfit and of each piece (for example category, colors, pattern, material and fit), the occasion you choose, the looks you mark as worn, and your closet items with the changes you make to them (edits, crops, merges and "not the same item" choices).

Questions and feedback

The questions you ask about a scan and the AI's answers, your feedback on a score (for example, that you think it is too high or too low), and any report you send us about an AI answer.

Subscription data

Whether you have an active subscription, your plan, and purchase, renewal and cancellation events. This comes from Apple through RevenueCat. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card or other payment details.

Usage data (analytics)

Events about how you use the app, for example the onboarding screens you view and the time you spend on them, scans started and completed, scores, purchases started or completed, and buttons you tap. Once you have an account, your onboarding answers (age, sex, build, style struggle, how often you feel unsure and your self-rating) and your baseline score are added to your analytics profile so we can understand which features help which users. We do not send your name, email address, height or photos to analytics.

Device and technical data

Your app version and update identifier, your iOS version, a random identifier for analytics, a random identifier for app updates, and the IP address of the requests your device makes to our providers. Our providers use the IP address to deliver the service and keep it secure. We have set Mixpanel so that it does not use your IP address to estimate your location. We do not collect the location of your device.

Usage counters

The number of scans and questions you make each day, to apply the daily limits, and the number of free baseline scan attempts.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your advertising identifier (IDFA) or health data. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

4. How we use your data and our legal bases

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we need a legal basis for each use of your data:

Photos of people can sometimes reveal sensitive information, for example religious clothing or a visible health condition. We do not try to infer such information. The AI is instructed to judge only the clothes, the fit and the styling, and never your body, weight, face, skin, hair, age or attractiveness. If a photo reveals sensitive information, we process it only as part of the photo, to give you the analysis you asked for, and only with your explicit consent.

The score and the feedback are made automatically, but they have no legal effect and do not decide anything about you in a way that significantly affects you.

5. Third-party AI analysis

DripCheck uses AI models from third-party providers to analyze your outfits and answer your questions. We choose the provider and the model that give the best results, and we may change them over time. The provider can be:

On the date of this policy, the analysis runs on Google's Gemini API.

What we send

We do not send your name, your email address or your age to the AI provider.

What the provider does with it

Each provider processes this data to return the analysis or the answer to us. Each provider may also keep the data for a limited time under its own terms, for example to monitor for abuse or to meet legal obligations. Please read the links above for the details of each provider.

Your permission

The app asks for your permission once, before the first photo is sent to an AI provider. You can refuse. If you refuse, you cannot scan outfits, because a score cannot be made without the AI analysis. You can withdraw your permission at any time by deleting your data or your account in the app (see section 10), or by writing to [email protected]. Withdrawing does not affect the analyses made before.

6. Who receives your data

We use the following service providers. They process your data on our behalf and only to provide their service to us.

Each provider is bound by its terms with us, including data processing terms, to protect your data at a level equal to or higher than this policy describes, and to use it only to provide its service to us and for the limited purposes its terms allow, such as security and abuse prevention.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to answer a valid request from an authority, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of DripCheck. If DripCheck is sold or transferred, your data may be transferred to the new owner, who must respect this policy. We will tell you before this happens.

When you share a score card, the app creates the image on your device and you choose where to send it with the iOS share sheet. We do not publish your photos or scores.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers store or process data outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards: the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider participates in it. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.

8. How we protect your data

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our database applies access rules for each user, so the app can read only your own data.

Your photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 and served from media.getdripcheck.com at long addresses that contain random identifiers. These addresses are not listed or published, and the app shows your photos only to you. Anyone who has the exact address of a photo could open it, so do not share these addresses.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will inform you and the competent authority as the law requires.

In the app

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Apple continues to bill it until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings (how to cancel a subscription). When you delete your account, we also ask Apple to revoke DripCheck's access to your Apple ID. You can check this, or stop using Sign in with Apple with DripCheck yourself, in your iPhone settings (how to manage apps that use Sign in with Apple).

By email

For any other request, write to [email protected], if possible from the email address linked to your account. We may ask you for information to confirm that the account is yours. We answer within one month, as the GDPR requires.

11. Children

DripCheck is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (15 in France), you may use DripCheck only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe that a child has given us personal data without this consent, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If a change is important, for example a new use of your data or a new type of recipient, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.

This website does not use cookies or analytics. To show the pages, your browser loads fonts from Google Fonts and the App Store badge from Apple, so Google and Apple receive your IP address. If you email us, we use your message only to answer you.
